I am a bank teller and on a daily basis I get customers huffing and puffing because I ask for their drivers license when they are cashing a check. I get to know the customers...but if you only come into the bank once a month, chances are that I don't know you. How can I help my obese toddler?

I have a 5 year old son who weighs almost 80 lbs. His doctor has told me he is obese, but other that that has offered no real solutions, such as the best meal plan for him. How do I get rid of spiders?

Spiders are my BIGGEST fear. I moved into a house in June and the first night here I found a spider in my bedroom which I didn't think anything of. My step mom had a stroke February of 2007. She came home in August of 2007, even though her speech was still messed up, she is in a wheel chair (can't walk), can't maneuver her left arm, lost of hearing (she has a hearing aide now). its not a matter of how often you change them, its when it needs to be done. if your mechanicly inclined, you can check them yourself. heres what you do, take off each wheel one at a time, inspect the front pads. good pads should be at least 1/2 to one inch thick from the metal backing to the front edge of the pad. take a flat bar, like a flat head screw driver and slowly and carefully try to push the brake caliper piston back into the caliper housing. if the piston retracks back in, the caliper is ok, if it dont, you need to have the caliper either rebuilt or replaced. after your finished with the fronts and have the calipers retracted back in. go inside your vehicle and pump the pedel to get the pads back to their proper seating. DO NOT drive the car untill you do this. check the rubber brake lines going to the calipers, inspect them for any cracks. if they are cracked, replace them right. you have 100 pounds of pressure going thru them when you push on the brake pedle, and it only takes one panic stop to make that hose break open and you will lose your breaks and possably have an accident. if you have rear brake calipers, remove the wheels and inspect the rear pads. the rear pads will be slightly thinner than the front pads, but should still be at least 3/4 of an inch thick. again, thats the thickness from where the pad meets the metal backing to the outside of the pad. if you do have rear calipers, you should always use your parking brake. that is the only way rear disks readjust themselves. if you dont use them, the cable that actuates the rear caliper piston will seize up and wont function anymore and you'll wind up having to replace the rear caliper. you can do all this yourself or have it done. you have several choices as to where to bring it. meineke, midas, strauss, pepboys. any "national chain" is the best because where ever you go, you will always find one of these stores incase you run into a problem and can go back under warrentte. a "normal" brake job will cost you between 80 to 130 dollars providing all you need is having the pads replaced and ALWAYS have the drums or rotors checked and resurfaced to eliminate out of roundness and possable brake squeel. brake them in by no panic stops, do not ride the brake pedle, and avoid heavy brakeing for the first hundred miles or so. do 4 or 5 normal brake stops from 40 miles an hour, this will allow the pads to seat themselves against the rotors.

What is the root cause of the Tamil Problem in Sri Lanka? Is it language or something else?

Tamil is an Official language in Sri Lanka and every Sri Lankan Tamil can have their education in their mother tong up to University level. No other country provides this facility where there is a large minority of Tamils. The Tamil problem stems from British colonial era of the country due to Britain’s vicious divide-and-rule policies which made the Tamils, especially Jaffna Tamils, a privilege community over the Sinhalese majority of the country during their rule as the Sinhalese were not willing to corporate with the British rulers. The British kept on snatching lands from Sinhalese with vengeance and committed atrocities against them through out the island during their 100 year brutal rule and drastically changed the ethnic demographics by bringing in Indian Tamil/Telengu speaking plantation workers to Sri Lanka. With the independence in 1948 what Sri Lanka attempted was to minimise the cl differences created by Britain by way of providing access to education in local vernaculars -Sinhala/Tamil for all her citizens and giving the languages their due places in the Public Administration fields. Sinhalese was made the official language as it was the majority’s language and like in any other democracy majority gradually became the rulers. Sinhalese did not crush Tamil culture and they did not impose Sinhalese on Tamils rather what they did was promoting both cultures at the expense of English, the impact of which was felt equally by the English educated Sinhalese and Tamils. However the Tamils took the switching back to local languages in the administration spheres as a blow to them and their culture when infact it was English and the cultures of English educated Tamils and Sinhalese which were losing ground. As Tamils comprised mostly the then English educated elite in post independent Sri Lanka their actions and campaigns against the majority in the name of preserving their culture coupled with later economic difficulties with the opening up of the economy in 1977 which resulted in the loss of market value for Tamil farmers’ products over cheap imports, prepared the foundations and breeding grounds for radical uneducated elements like Prabakaran who saw only injustices caused by the Majority Sinhalese comfortably forgetting that their culture was not at stake under Sinhalese but heeded to the venom spewed out by the Tamil elite cl created by Britain who were agitating to regain their privileges masquerading as crusaders of Tamil rights. The whole problem of ethnic strife is a legacy of the Britain. It should be noted that Sri Lanka is only 62 years old since independence and wounds inherited and inflicted upon the inhabitants for more than hundred years during the British rule will take some more time to heal. Tamils who comprise only 10% of the total population of Sri Lanka do not have unique problems which are different to that of Sinhalese, both communities have the same set of economic problems but their perceptions are different due to one being the majority and the other the minority. It has to be remembered that Tamils as a race fiercely guard their culture and language against actual or the perceived threats from out side and they have the notion that they used to rule the whole of Asia in the past. The Jaffna Tamils specially boast of that their language is much purer than the South Indian Tamil but they forget that the purity in their speech is mainly due to the free quality Tamil education provided by the Sri lankan Government whereas in India it was only recently that Tamil was made compulsory in Tamilnadu- the authentic home land of Tamils. Therefore, it is imperative for any Sri Lankan Gvt to understand the problems perceived by Tamils as arising due to being Tamils and provide concrete counter arguments to eliminate the misconceptions amongst them.

These ants are behaving very strangely... What the heck is wrong with them?

I was seeing a few ants around the house, so I put some Terro (ant poison that they take back to their home) down as a precaution. They left it alone for a full day, then suddenly I looked at it and they were positively swarming to it in two or three lanes instead of one. I had six helpings of Terro around the house and all of them were surrounded by ants. I just examined the ants closely and they are all moving very sluggishly and getting stuck in the crack they come in and out of and drowning in the Terro. It seems like they are brain damaged. I also examined the Terro, and there are bits of debris all around it wherever the ants can reach. It looks to me like they are depositing this debris into the Terro. I have never seen ants act this way and I have been using Terro for at least 10 years. I live in a duplex though, and the landlords are cleaning the place next door. I wonder if they could have given the ants something to make them do this, or do ants behave this way if their home is destroyed?

I just turned 19. Almost all of my friends are out of town for uni. The one friend I did have ditched me last minute on my birthday to go to a frat event. The others promised we'd party on the weekend. One didn't come back, the other is back but says he's got homework and one just won't answer his phone. I'm in 2nd year uni and I basically go to school then come home. I have people I lknow but no real friends that I hang out with. I basically stay in every weekend and I don't even have a girlfriend. And every now and then when I do like a girl, I think about asking her out for months then always out. It's weird...I'm an average looking guy and no one would prolly ever ume that I have this problem. Help with my 11 month please!?

since my baby has been born she has been high maintence, even from the very first few times I tried to put her down in the hospital she screamed and screamed till she was picked up. On return home from hospital I put her immediatly into a routine bath and bed etc and always woke constantly. Then she got colic and screamed for hours on end and we started rocking her and now it has continued and I cant put her down awake she screams and paniks (and if I was giving advice I would say leave her) but it breaks my heart. Now she wakes up constatly from being put down at 7 at least hrly until she comes in our bed which she wakes regually still but its easier to settle. She screams even if cuddled and we cant go out as no one else can calm her down. Her eating is also terrible, for example 1/4 weetabix for breakie 3rd of an egg for dinner and either mixed veg for tea a bit of soup of fish finger, she bearly has any milk and she is having juice in a bottle not a cup. I feel I have made so many mistakes but I want to keep her happy and my time with her is so precious I just want to please her but I feel so down as getting no sleep and she does not seem to be getting any where she is not crawling etc. Any advice my hv just keeps saying there is nothing wrong with her leave her to cry but I find it so hard :(

The hallways are always really packed! But by the time the bells ring its almost empty and theres always a few wonderers. And on tv shows it always seems like people have break ups and make ups in the hall but theres NEVER time for that!!! however there's always lots of make outs...its nasty you'll just turn a corner and see two people getting really nasty up against a wall. I need suggestions for my fussy hard headed 19 month daughter?

My 3 year old son is an angel with food and loves trying new food... but my 19 month old daughter on the other hand is fussy and picky and will only eat ham, cheese, yoghurt, bananas and apples... she won't budge with vegies and I don't know what to do anymore... i've tried mashing them with potato and covering them in cheese but she picks it up looks at it and turns up her nose... i've been giving her a child multi vitimin because I was worried she's not getting the right vitamins... how can I get her to stuff other than what I stated??... she won't even eat rice or pasta... any help would be great!!

Are these symptoms to a torn MCL?

Alright so I run track and cross country, and during a summer workout sprint drill(running 70 yards, quickly pivoting and turning back) I really hurt my knee I was down on the ground in the worst pain I had ever felt. I went to the athletic trainer, she put me on crutches told me to get it checked out..I'm just to stubborn to, but now im off the crutches and not running the XC season.. but I am still dancing, and my knee is KILLING me it clicks when I bend it, is constantly sore and whenever i run/do active stuff its just awful. The pain is on the inside of my left knee and kind of towards the middle...if anyone has any clue that'd be great.. thanks so much!(:

What do results of CVS pregnancy test mean?

I just took a CVS pregnancy test...results had a horizontal line in one window and a vertical line in the second window. Does that mean positive or negative??? I bought a 2 pk and threw the box away after I took the first test 3 months ago, thinking I would remember, but I don't. I already called CVS, too, but they were no help because they have more than one home pregnancy test kit (one that shows a + and one that doesn't, but I *know* the one I have doesn't show a + in the results windows, just one line or two).

Yes, there is a big brother watching society in general. It is the government in respect to authorities that keep information on almost all of us and seek to bend the truth(Ministry of Truth). It is the media, but the media is pulled by society not the other way around. Society that has an intellectual laziness are easily lead(Ministry of Love). M production and consumption in a consumer society is its own slave to so-called big brother(Ministry of Plenty). Continuous warfare is thought to ensure economic and societal control(Ministry of Peace). I believe this is being perpetuated by ourselves not necessarily the government.

How much weight will I lose during childbirth and the days following?

Tomorrow I will be 37 weeks pregnant, and have gained 14.5 pounds so far. Hopefully I will gain below my goal of 18 pounds. In the last two weeks I have stopped running, but am still doing some core and lifting, so hopefully my abdominal muscles will bounce back pretty quickly. But does it even matter how strong your transverse and rectus abdominis are when it comes to how quickly your belly bounces back-- I dont even know?! :) This is my first creation. I have heard you lose half the weight; but I am hoping for more...If I gain around 16, is it possible to 11 or 12, so I only have 4 or 5 to go??? I know everyone is different, but I would like to hear from a fit mamma who gained 15 - 20 lbs. Thank you!!!

me and a group of 3 friends were hanging out at the school at about 10pm- late i know, and we were just messing around on the swings, and then near the cafateria door - where a light is- to take a picture, and this car pulles up and is following us with it's lights. we get a little freaked out and go stand behind some dumpsters. we finally decide to walk home- and 4 COP CARS PULL UP. apperantly that car saw us pulling at the doors and trying to get in. they took our info, and checked our ppockets and it was terrifying. i asked if i could call my folks and they said not yet. after all the questioning and good cop bad cop, they said the school wouldnt press charges, but if we go up there again at night we will be arrsted. there was a camera there, and if they looked they would see we wernt breaking in!!! but i don't know whats going to happen now. we flagged down one of the cops and they said they wouldnt call our house, but what is going to happen? will this effect my college stuff? 3 of us have never been in trouble. im just really freaked out i dont knpw what to do... im sorry this is so long!

If you find a post-degree program, make sure its specific to pre-medicine. Nursing won't cover all the bases, especially LPN-level. You need A year of General Chem, a year of Organic Chem, a year of General Bio, a year of University Physics, and Calculus. Some schools do have additional requirements so be sure to check ones you're most interested in. I can't help you much with the MCAT. I really don't think a second degree is warranted, unless you'd want it anyway.

We would text all the time but never met in person and things didn't really end up going anywhere and we eventually stopped texting each other.
