Why won't Second Life let me make an account???

Every time I finish filling out the first page to sign up, it takes me to a page which says registration failed with a picture of a warrior-type character on it. I have tried signing up multiple times, using different names and e-mails. I have never had an account on the site before. No answers in the FAQ help. Any suggestions?
