Trying to write a fictional story on life in the american frontier, but i got nothing to start on.?

Alright. life on the american frontier... no washers and dryers, no supermarket. no coiled spring mattresses or hairdryers. no plumbing. no twinkies or big macs. a lot of dirt, gr, and hard work to survive- a lot of time spent with immediate family. no tv. no web. no mall to buy clothes. think self-sufficiency. think candles.
